-INTRODUCTION

The UEFA Champions League, usually known as the European Cup, was created in 1955 for the best clubs in Europe.
Along with the NFL's Super Bowl final it is the annual most watched sporting event on TV worldwide. In 1992 the competition was oficially called The UEFA Champions League.
First, only the champion of each country played in the competition.
Later on, the comptetion expanded and incorporated a group phase before the knockout round. In some leagues, the top four would play the following Champions League edition and the 5th and 6th would play the UEFA European Cup, nowadays known as UEFA Europe League.
The season begins in Semptember and it finishes in May(Final Match).
Since the comptetition changed the name and the format in 1992, no club has won the Champions league two consecutive years.The winner qualifies for the FIFA Clubs World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup(in this final match the Champions League winner plays against the UEFA Europe League winner).
